About Adele Bloch-Bauer I
Took Klimt three years to complete. Adele died at 43, never knowing it would become one of the most expensive paintings ever. The Nazis stole it in 1941. Maria Altmann fought a 7-year legal battle to recover it. Sold to Ronald Lauder for 135 million dollars in 2006.
