About The Arnolfini Portrait
One of the first paintings to use oil paint technique. The convex mirror in the background reflects the entire room. Written above the mirror is the artists signature. Every detail is symbolic, from the dog to the fruit. The couple may not actually be married, as once thought. The single lit candle may represent the eye of God.
