About Erased de Kooning Drawing
Rauschenberg asked Willem de Kooning for a drawing specifically to erase it. De Kooning chose a drawing he would miss, making the erasure meaningful. The framed paper with faint traces is the artwork. Rauschenberg spent two months erasing it. Conceptual art before the term existed.
