About Ndebele House Painting
A tradition of geometric mural painting by Ndebele women. Each generation passes techniques to the next. Originally used natural pigments, now acrylics. The patterns communicate cultural identity and social status. Began as a form of resistance during colonial times. Esther Mahlangu brought it to global attention.
