About Self-Portrait

Leyster depicts herself painting a musician, confidently meeting the viewers gaze. She was a member of the Haarlem Guild of St. Luke. Her entire oeuvre was attributed to Frans Hals until 1893. Only about 20 works are securely attributed to her.
