About The Scream
Munch created four versions of this image. The sky was likely colored red by the 1883 Krakatoa eruption. The figure is not screaming but hearing a scream from nature. Stolen twice, once in 1994 and again in 2004. The androgynous figure was inspired by a mummy Munch saw in Paris. One version sold for 120 million dollars in 2012.
