About The Naked Maja
One of the first totally nude paintings of a real woman, not a goddess. The Spanish Inquisition summoned Goya to explain the painting. The identity of the model is unknown, possibly the Duchess of Alba. A clothed version, The Clothed Maja, hangs beside it.
