Frankenthaler poured thinned paint directly onto unprimed canvas. The soak-stain technique created her signature luminous color fields. Painted when she was only 23. Influenced Morris Louis and Kenneth Noland to develop Color Field painting. Inspired by Pollocks drip technique.
