About The Night Watch
Actually titled Militia Company of District II. The dramatic lighting was revolutionary for a group portrait. The canvas was cut down in 1715 to fit a smaller wall. A man in the background appears to be stepping out of the frame. Attacked with a knife in 1975 and sprayed with acid in 1990. Rembrandt painted himself into the background.
