About The Old Guitarist
Created during Picassos Blue Period when he was destitute in Paris. X-rays reveal a ghostly portrait of a woman beneath the surface. Picasso could not afford new canvases, painting over old works. The blind musician represents the suffering of the poor. The only warmth is the brown of the guitar.
