About The Thinker
Originally part of a larger work called The Gates of Hell. Initially titled The Poet, meant to represent Dante. Over 20 original casts exist in different cities. The figure is 186 cm tall. Rodin hired bodybuilders as models. The figure is thinking so intensely that every muscle is tense. The original plaster was completed in 1880.
